Yoga Therapeutics Class

Yoga Therapeutics is a gentle yoga class.  Class begins on Tuesday February 12, 2013, is from 9:30a.m.-11:00a.m. and enrollment is ongoing. This class is designed for individuals recovering from injuries, surgeries and/or living with special physical and/or emotional conditions and for those who desire a gentle yoga class.  Yoga Therapeutics is extremely beneficial and healing in recovering from injuries and/or surgeries and in living with chronic physical and/or emotional conditions. Yoga will help to stretch your body in a healthy and safe manner and teach you to be more mindful of your breath and its ability to assist with healing, decrease stress and maintain a positive attitude!  Pre-registration required.  Class price is $18.00 per class, or $17.00 if paying monthly.

Janet (“J”) Vecchia is a 500 hour Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (“E-RYT500”) with the national Yoga Alliance and a Certified Yoga Teacher. J began her practice and became a student of yoga in 1999 and began teaching in March 2004.  As part of her teacher trainings, J has completed several weeks of yoga therapy training to assist students with injuries and who suffer with pain.  As of December 2012, J has completed over 1,400 hours of teacher trainings and workshops in yoga, yoga therapeutics, meditation and yoga philosophy.

                                                                                                       Meditation Class

New meditation class begins Tuesday February 12, 2013 from 7:15pm-8:15pm. This class is for new & experienced meditation students. The class will consist of pranayama (breath awareness practices) & meditation.

In Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation by Sharon Salzberg, she quotes Richard Davidson, Ph.D, founding director of University of Wisconsin’s Center for Investigating Healthy Minds (CIHM) regarding his research about the benefits of meditation. Dr. Davidson states: meditation can remodel the brain to strengthen the qualities that psychologists say are critical components of happiness: resilience, equanimity, calm, and a sense of compassionate connection to others.”

Pre-registration is required. You can enjoy yoga prior to class from 5:30pm-7:00pm and then attend meditation class for $27.00 for both classes if you pay monthly for classes (4 wks. = $108.00, 5 wks.= $135.00. If you pay weekly for classes, price is $30.00 for both classes or $15.00 for meditation class only.
