Daylight Savings time approaches this Sunday Nov. 4th & we shift to more darkness in the daytime, Yeah, I know, most of us don’t like that it will be dark by 4pm! I lament about this as well. But, I also see this time of year as a sacred time to be more introspective, still & quiet.
There is a lot of darkness & tragedy that occurs in our country & our world each day. It is so challenging to try & sit with it all, right? The heartbreak we experience about all the ongoing senseless violence, hatred, prejudice & ignorance is so devastating & draining for each of us on all levels: emotionally, mentally, physically & spiritually.
May we remember that the darkness invites stillness, quiet, introspection & awareness. Also, that the darkness is an opportunity to nurture & replenish our Self (spiritual Self) & in turn, our World. To remember that each day each of us has a choice – to live from a place of the power of Divine Light-qualities such as Love, Compassion & Forgiveness; or to choose Fear, Judgment, Hatred & Indifference. Breath practices & meditation invite us to a sacred space of quiet, stillness & introspection. Yoga prepares our bodies, minds, hearts & souls to arrive & stay in a place of stillness & quiet. Then, we can consciously sit with our own darkness & light and align with the energies & qualities that are most affirming.
