Vrksasana (tree pose) is a powerful pose to remember the strength of our core and our capacity to stay steady and centered in the heart.

By hugging the shins in and drawing into the midline, we are able to remember the highest part of ourselves and access our spiritual as well as, physical strength.  It also reminds us of the importance of our capacity to hug into the midline in order to stay steady, especially during unsteady and/or challenging times. This steadiness inspires us to root down from the pelvis all the way to the four corners of the rooted foot and extend the energy from the pelvis up the side-bodies to the crown of our head and literally grow the pose and our capacity to stay steady and strong!  Lastly, staying steady to our center allows us to access the heart.  By finding the midline we are able to balance and then, extend the energy upwards to inspire us to squeeze the low tips of the shoulder blades in and have the heart fully engaged in the pose. Vrksasana teaches us to grow our capacity to stay rooted, centered and strong so we can live more fully from the heart!
