John found his calling and became a licensed massage therapist (“LMT”) after graduating from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy (“CCMT”) in 1999. To maintain superb skills and be the best massage therapist he can be, John maintains professional membership with the American Therapy Association (“AMTA”) and is nationally certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (“NCBTMB”).
Both AMTA and NCBTMB require upholding high standards of practice and codes of ethics, mastery of core skills and knowledge, and also require continuing education. To maintain national certification status, John has completed advanced therapeutic training with top teachers in the field of Massage and CranioSacral therapy including Dr. John Upledger, James Waslaski, Aaron Mattes, Bob King and many others.
John is a Certified CranioSacral Therapist withe The Upledger Institute Based in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and an Upledger Certified Teaching-Assistant. The Upledger Institute provides trainings worldwide. Among the list of completed CranioSacral Therapy classes includes (“CSTI and CSTII”), and Somatic Emotional Release (“SERI and SERII”) as well as Advanced 1 CST. Since 1999, John has owned and operated a home-based office, Ingleside Therapeutic Massage and Yoga. Previously, John worked as a massage therapist at the Atlas Chiropractic office, in Spa settings and at the Bay State Cardiac Rehab Center. As of 2002 to the present, John has provided pre-show massage to the players of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra.
In 1986 when an injury prevented him from other forms of exercise John begain yoga. In 2004, he completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher-Training and the following year, a 48 hour Advanced Teacher Training. Since 2005 to the present, John has completed numerous workshops and teacher trainings in yoga with many gifted teachers.
John has also been a QiGong practitioner since 1999 and completed a QiGong Teacher Training in September 2012. QiGong is a low force movement and breathing exercise that restores energy and has amazing healing potential on the mind, body and spirit. John receives massage therapy on a weekly basis, and practices yoga and QiGong 4-6 times per week and believes that “investing in your health is the key to a peaceful mind, a healthy, strong body and a very happy Spirit!”
